1. Martin Luther King's speech is full of emotions. We could hear it in his strong voice and see it in his body movements. This shows that he is a great speaker and leader. By his power of being an effective speaker - he inspires his listeners.
ReplyDelete2. Firstly, it's interesting. Secondly, the speech references many important documents in American history. He called for an end to racism with such fervour - of his hope that black and white people would one day live together equally. It's always a speech on which to ponder and reflect.

Yes, there are many references to the historical documents such as the declaration of Independece and also Lincoln, which make some really convincing arguments.
Delete1: This is right out of a Dixie church! His voice is filled with emotion and conviction in his own word. He stands still most of the time and when he REALLY wants to amplify his words, he uses his hands (in the end of the speech). The way he talks makes it an almost preaching speech and he uses the name of his lord several times; that is very American. Martin Luther King is a very good speaker and he makes a VERY long speech interesting with is metaphors and the way he pauses from time to time.
ReplyDeleteYes, well it is also the way he uses history in his speech and the way he uses repetitions (anaphora especially), and also the use of metaphors makes this a powerful speech.
DeleteMartin's voice is very penetrating and clear with a lot of emotions, his voice is shaking as if he is about to cry, and that tells us that this is something very deep.
ReplyDeleteHis speech works because its is relevant for the coloured and white people who are living in this struggle of racism, and he wants to point out; not to hate each other despite our differences. He says that wishes that one day we should live together as "brothers and sisters" and not as enemies.
yes, but there is so much more to it. Why is this speech working when no other black person seems to have stirred up such feelings and made such a great impact on not just black people but also whites, and this is still the most famous speech ever made. What you mentions lastly may be an indicator, but there are many factors to it.
